Sheriff’s Ambulance Newsletter

Dec 4, 2009

Don’t forget the SCSA / Team Rescue Christmas Party December 11th at Stephani’s Oak Street Grill, social hour 1800hrs and dinner at 1900hrs.  There is a sign-up sheet on the WESAVE wall area in the crew locker room.  Please be signed up by this Sunday, December 6th.  If you cannot get in to sign up call the ambulance office and we will sign you up.  Yes, there will be a “stinky Christmas” gift exchange, so bring a wrapped gift in the $20.00 range if you would like to play along J

EMS Training this month includes; EMS Live @ Nite (Winter Emergencies) the 8th at 1845hrs and our monthly In-Service (OTEP, Patient Assessment: Medical) the 9th at 1830hrs.

We have several EMTs out on Family & Medical leave at the present time.  If you can help on the schedule please stop by or call the office, there are lots of uncovered shifts in December.

EPI Pens are changing; the new ones look and operate a little differently than the present ones.  It will be a few months before we will be using them and training will be required, just an FYI!

We have scheduled a meeting for all who are interested in the winter 2009 SCSA EMT-B class.  The informational meeting will be December 15th @ 1900hrs in the SCSA Training Room.  The class begins Saturday January 9th.

News from our mentor group; The mentor group works with our 3rd party riders to ensure they are learning to do things according to our SCSA Policy and Procedure Manual and the Stevens County Protocols Manual, as well as following established "ways of doing business" that aren't necessarily covered in either of those two manuals.  We have created a document called "Training Decisions" that covers how we are training our 3rd party riders.  This document is on the bulletin board in the crew locker area and we encourage all crew members to familiarize yourselves with these decisions.  Our 3rd party riders spend time on runs with all of you and, even though they aren't being evaluated by all crew members, they are learning by example and all of you are helping to make them successful with our service.    You are all a big part of the success of our 3rd party riders, so lets all work together in providing consistent information and the "way we do business".  Thanks, the mentor group.

Remember to bring warm clothes while on call and please wear your yellow parkas or yellow traffic vests while working on or near all roadways J

Happy & Safe Holidays

Thank you for volunteering with your local EMS agencies
