Sheriff’s Ambulance Newsletter

MAY 5th 2010

Thank you to all who participated in the “Colville Electric Mock Accident” set up by Avista last week.  The scenario was two linemen on a pole in “contact” with high energy electricity.  Both were rescued from the pole by Avista personnel and CPR was being performed on both victims when Fire District #5 (Addy) First Responders arrived.  The accident was staged in a remote area making access difficult.  Agencies participating included FD #5, SCSA, Medstar (they actually brought in a helo!), Stevens County Sheriff’s Office, KHQ 6 News, Stevens County 911 Dispatch and Avista Safety Personnel and Linemen.  The Avista evaluators were very impressed and stated that they were “overwhelmed” by the number, quality and timeliness of rural EMS responders to this mock event.

Training this month includes EMS Live @ Nite (Splinting) May 11th at 1845 hrs. And SCSA’s monthly In-Service (OTEP – Patient Assessment-Trauma) May 12th at 1830 hrs. This will be the last scheduled OTEP from INHS until September.

Welcome aboard; Lisa Robinson SCSA’s newest Primary Crewmember and Congratulations Joe Pittelkow on your successful campaign to become the newest member of SCSA’s Advisory Board!
