Happy New Year!

We finished 2009 with 1649 runs up 5 from the year before!  Thank you all very much for your excellent caring helpJ

Please do not remove check out pagers from their chargers without signing them out.  We need to keep track of where they are.  If we cannot trust people to sign them out we will have to place them in the ambulance office and they will have to be checked out during office hoursL

Congratulations Gene Fisher and Barb Cartwright for being voted by your fellow SCSA EMTs as the EMT of the Year and Rookie EMT of the Year respectively for 2009!

Terry’s EMT-B class will begin this Saturday January 9th at 0800hrs with the Provider CPR class.  We will post a detailed class schedule as soon as it is available.  The basic schedule is Monday and Wednesday evenings at 1730hrs and every Saturday at 0800hrs.

SCSA Monthly EMS Training will be on Tuesday January 12th for this month (January) only.  EMS Live @ Nite (Pediatric Medical) Tuesday, January 12th at 1830 hrs. This is an OTEP module for recertification.

Remember, Please, when you transport a patient to a Spokane hospital you need to bring back a copy of the transport documents including; the face sheet from PMCH, the patient summary from PMCH, a signed “Blue Form” and the transfer sheet signed by the physician requesting the transport from PMCH.

The winter is now in full swing so be prepared for winter driving conditions.  Slow down and expect slick and slushy roads.  Take along snow boots, gloves and those nice new bright yellow parkas with the warm liners too.  If your patient is “off road” don’t be afraid to call for extra help (Team Rescue, Local Law Enforcement, Border Patrol, Local Fire Departments or Fire Districts, Etc.).  If your response vehicle has a lot of snow, ice, etc. stuck underneath, leave it over the wash rack drain after hosing it off.  The garage area is mostly flat and does not drain well.

Team Rescue Crewmembers, Please check your flashlights, batteries, light holders for helmets and extrication gloves.  Let me know ASAP if you need replacements, we will be ordering soon.

All, Thank you for wearing your “highly visible” clothing while working near streets, highways and other moving vehiclesJ

Thank you for volunteering with your local EMS agencies.  It’s because of you that our local tiered response EMS system works quite effectively.
